Why High Desert In-Home Newborn Sessions Are Magical | From a Family Photographer

Picture this: You just had a baby. You’re exhausted from your hair down to your toes. You and your partner are trying to navigate sleepless nights, that ever-growing laundry pile, and the fact that you can’t find your beloved sweatpants. Not to mention, you've forgotten what a long shower feels like.

The sound of sweet coos and those tiny toes are melting your heart every waking second. These are the early newborn days— tender, sleepy, and overwhelming.

In-home newborn sessions are my favorite; they capture the tired memories that soon get forgotten. They are designed with you and baby in mind. They honor this new season of life with a sense of calm and comfort.

Baby Chooses The Vibe

Let Baby Sleep
When I come to your home, your new bundle of joy can be awake or asleep. Each baby is different. Some want to stay cozy and sleep all day. While others will only sleep for 15-minute increments.

This allows for natural breaks for feeding, snuggling, and bathing—no rushing or forcing moments.

Newborns create their own schedule from the second they’re born.

When you choose an in-home session, I’ll arrive with plenty of time for baby to set the vibe. I’ll follow their lead, and we’ll go with the flow.

Stress shouldn’t be a factor here. An in-home newborn session is the opposite of hustle. And, it’s just what you’ll want and need while navigating this new life.

I’ll take photos of the in-between moments, candids, laughs, tears, and we’ll even get a beautiful portrait for the wall.

Your Home Is Beautiful

A Perfect House Is NOT Required

Your home does not need to be Pin-worthy.

Your home is where you’ll share laughs for many years. You’ll want these photos to look back on and remember. Lived-in spaces will tell the story of this season.

If we have to scoot a couch over to get better light, we will. But don’t worry about the laundry basket in the background or the stack of diapers on the coffee table. I’m at your home to capture your memories.

You want photos to be memorable and meaningful.

No Clock-Watching

No Time Restraints
An in-home newborn session should feel relaxed and flexible.

You’ll have extra time for diaper changes, feedings, and cuddles without feeling rushed. You can bathe baby after I arrive as well.

I have four kids, and I remember how time was a blur after each little one arrived.

You shouldn’t feel stressed about getting the images you want in a set amount of time. This will be a "go-with-the-glow” type of session.

It will be gentle, and we’ll take it slow.

Everyone Can Be in the Frame

Pets & Siblings Welcome
It's so easy to include siblings and pets when you’re at home—no coordinating car rides or worrying about how long little ones can last. And, you won’t need to hunt for the dog leash.

For little siblings, I’ll photograph them in their element with baby. Tiny hands can tell a story all on their own.

If you feel more comfortable with Fido looking at the baby through a doorway, I’ll grab that image.

These can be as hands-on or off as you want.

You Don’t Have to Leave the House

A Gift for New Moms
Giving birth is an adventure all on its own. Staying home removes the dreaded stress of leaving the house.

You won’t have to worry about packing bottles and diapers, an extra outfit if spit-up happens, or car rides.

Just relax and be present while I follow you around your living room and nursery. You get to choose which areas and rooms you want to hang out in.

Comfort Trumps Everything

Happy Parents, Happy Baby
Hanging out in a familiar space helps everyone relax.

You’ve already created your own natural surroundings. I’m just here to grab those precious moments and connections that happen in real life.

I’m going to be the storyteller for the day. It’ll be a stress-free day doing the normal things at home. I will capture sweet little tidbits that will become history someday.

In a year, you’ll look back and smile at the memory. And, in ten, you’ll get teary because you’ll have forgotten all about that season of life.
